For anybody who has followed me on Twitter for any length of time, you probably saw me post at midnight on December 11, 2016 and at midnight on New Year’s Day. In case you missed it (or didn’t see it pinned to my Twitter profile), here’s what it was:
Happy New Year. And The Gray Summer? The new novel? Drops 4.15.2017 #NA #ASMSG pic.twitter.com/8Kfi02Qi56

So, as you can see, I gave Twitter a glimpse not only at the first book trailer for The Gray Summer, but also a release date: April 15, 2017.
If you haven’t guess already, I’ve had that trailer ready to run for a while now. But, of course, the fact it took forever to get the manuscript completed in the first place would have made posting the video up beforehand look a lot like putting the cart before the horse.
But with the book written and in the hands of a select group of initial readers (you know who you are!), as well as getting to manuscript proofread, I went ahead and put the release on the calendar!
Since you’ve seen the first trailer, it seems appropriate to give you a few more details.
First, and most importantly, it the cover reveal for the paperback. After debating back and forth as to which self-publishing platform to use, I have ultimately decided on Amazon’s Kindle Digital Publishing platform, which recently added the ability to publish physical books through its CreateSpace imprint. The bad news is that I will be departing the self-publishing sites I’ve used for Flagrant Foul, Lulu.com and Smashwords.
The good news, however, if that I now have a one-stop shop for both paperback and Kindle formats. Also, it gives me the opportunity to make some changes between physical and e-book formats.
Which leads me to the next upcoming event. There will be two cover reveals! The first one, for the paperback, is the one you’re seeing right now. But there will be a second reveal for the Kindle cover on February 10th via Twitter.
And I certainly can’t forget all of my would-be beta readers and reviewers. I will be making advance copies of The Gray Summer available electronically on February 15th. Anyone interested in obtaining a copy can shoot me a direct message on Twitter of visit my contact page and complete the form.
I don’t know about you, but I am certainly forward to releasing The Gray Summer and hearing from all of you!
